the journey of a BMW E 39 restoration story - Car detailing lesson by KC

When I look into the sky above
Wonder how my life has changed
Wonder how Your love, it came to me
When I look into the sky above
All my fears, so far away

How did I restore E 39

This is a journey - of E39 restoration journey

was the successor of the BMW E34 in 1995, and itself was replaced by the E60 platform in 2003

was introduced in 95, the complete vehicle redesign draws heavily from the E38 7 Series in body construction and electronic technology. The mid-level BMW saloon showed evolutionary styling changes rather than a dramatic redesign

The aerodynamically designed body & this is my favourite colour (Silverado - almost paint defect invisible colour, so cool - that anyone above 45 find hard to find swirls under a noon day sun & camera proof colour (shooting imperfection - is almost impossible)

Mr H .... told me I dont seems to get my car gloss - shinning ......Hmmmm...what do u say from the 1st 2 pics....indeed it is a challenge to make silver shines

Deatiling guru KC - revealing the truth of car waxing polish business again in Malaysia

For U create my inmost being & U knitted me in my mothers womb

Pay to get your car whack again???? is it necessarily to get yr car polish & compound - means cutting off layers of yr clear coat??

Another time Festive celebrations - means lot of preparations AKA lot of hard work - of sweat

Spring cleaning time – upon arrival of my buddy ride, he explained that he has been sending this 2 years ride to be detail every time when there is a festive season –( once yearly????)...but is it necessarily for the car paint to be polish & corrected every time - will our clear coat 2 mil of an micron last with stand against these harshness ???? wrong hands

I questions why there is the need of paint correction every year –
He reply “ I thought it is necessarily, just like spring cleaning !!!!!! I say “What”!!!!!

Great looking black stallion

giving the most express wash in the world - ONR no rinse wash with 3 microfibers

stains below the hood

engine before

we started out TT very late & only have 2 hours plus

so what we cover

Basic car wash _ the most important of car detailing - begin with a humble wash

Proceed to clay (ONR 2 ounce dilutes in 500ml water) as lubrications the least aggressive but most effective (cost saving & good ROI) - it also prolong yr clay life spent , as most shampoo degrades & break it...

Moving on engine - spot cleaning - (optimum power cleaner) the far most better cleaner i ever use - so strong that can use as degreaser but so gentle can be diluted & safe for car paint & leather (safe for clear coat) i like to dilute 1:5 for engines & 1:8 for interior & leather cleaning

Paint correction - product comparison (between OTC & professional range)
*
Started with consumer product - OTC
proceed to Polish - Optimum hyper spray polish & M205
proceed to compound - Megs 105

*part 2 (advance level)
Wet sanding - levelling paint coat

ending with - LSP (protection)
10 minutes optiseal ( a prefect bonding & protection )5 minutes car wax by OCWax

ended past midnight

after Optimum power clean - dilution 1:5 parts water ( we are only going to do a spot cleaning test)

after opc wash & onr rinse

BMW 330 Coupe damage by car cover restorations journey by KC

It has been quite a while since I posted....the last time I did was last year

Been too busy travelling around & we just celebrated our Grand ma 90th birthday...had a great time catching up with all my uncle & aunt...
came back from all over the world.

the moment i reach home - I did another detailing marathon 2 days 26 hours of detailing over 2 cars

Still recovering from a fall, slipped & fell wearing a worn out crocs during washing my car. Right elbow hurts & worse i dint let it recover

We have to take pretty much precaution, when working with a power tools or during detailing.

couple of months ago i nearly lost my right biceps...as i was caught by the pad on the spindle on my sleeves, burn a chunk of my left arm
what happen was I conducted a hands on detailing clinic for BMW car club & while having late lunch at 4pm, my buddy who got his E 90 asked me to help him to detail his ride
without considering much , I says 'yes' as Seech was coming along - and later the day i got so tired...& restless

I forgot to turn off the spindle caught, while resting on my left arm & trying to buff of the polish residues, just a few seconds - Seech was helpless
Thank God! Miracle came & after many tries the rotary went off

So this is a reminder to all of us :- be careful when working with a power tools, as this is not a toy

after a long 5 months waiting, finally i managed to slot in for my buddy to get his ride finish

Not too bad - no signs of water marks baked resurface
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_LW0SC8XIpiA/TSPMG72KlvI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/43MN_OJuIUw/s800/IMG_0226.JPG[/img]

1st time it came in...some pictures recovered from a faulty Memory card...evidently enough t show u the stains

many has similar experience but resorted to be repainted...

btw I see you have a modified DeWalt DW443

Incidentally I too own one. Can you show the modifications on it?
(I use it with the same 6" backing plate it comes with)
Thanks Sohail99 - for your kind words, you really know how to encourage me....
for I have only one passion - that is to help others of finding the path through...

as for once i was lost & incapable in finding out the truth
I know how frustrating it can be - when u tried your best & you only seems to get no where. going to the wrong people for advise & worse of all most meguiars shops technician here purposely gives the opposite instruction from the label. many guru scares to lose their reputation to others detailers.

as I have nothing to lose & i found out that I actually gain more when i lose - to be a giver than a taker

after all that i have been thru
I would only want to share & bless the world with the little knowledge I know. perhaps this is the best area of my contribution as it is my PASSION

I find joy in restoring cars, as i see deem & fit as it reflect pretty much of my life , for once i was broken & lost but now found & loved. You now the joy of being loved. after serving in a children homes for 7 years - i know the value of restoration & giving hope to these children means.....same applies here

I see the resemblance of my life similarly like in abuse car as for once i was abusing myself with all form of substance . Thank God for giving me a new start & I am able to share with you all....

I do not know how to thank each of you more- but just let me say one more thank you
for being around here, coming along side with me & my heart felt gratitude - you all is my truly guru's & I am proud to called u friends

Thank you for your detailing ship

BTW the dewalts belong to one of the enthusiast never the less - i shall take more pics & share with u

Very nice thread KCs. Nice work. I really like the clarity you have achieved with just one product and Hyper Compound at that!! Who would have thought.

Coming back from a low bottom place in life is truly God's Grace, an unwarranted gift for sure and your gratitude shines through in your giving spirit.
