Brand new VW... the owner wanted his 2-day old ride to be protected from the harsh Malaysian weather and had arranged to alien Coat his car with Optimum Opti-Coat.

As it happened, his car was the first to be alien Coated at our new detailien HIVE.

Starting out with a thorough cleaning and paint inspection...




Hmmm..... judging from the stain on the plactic, it would appear that a pre-delivery polish was done.


The usual anti-rust residue quite commonly found in most new vehicles these days...


Some random scratches...




and stains...


Upon closer inspection the glue residue from protective plastic sheets could also be found especially on the edges...


Removed with alien Clean...


Interior crevices are typically not cleaned...




Removed with alien Clean.


Now it looks new...


Even the groove in the side mirror is carefully cleaned.


Unknown stain on the lower body.




Removed with alien Clean.


The most important aspect of coating. Surface preparation!!!

As the alien Coating forms a permanent protective layer on top of the existing paint, any surface defects that are not corrected would also be sealed in by the coating. Hence, the need to fully correct the paint before the coating is applied.

Optimum Hyper Polish with the Double-Sided Red Foam with Makita 9227C and also Optimum MicroFiber Polishing Pad with the Flex 3401 was used to perfect the paint.


It is indeed a lot harder to spot paint defects on white but if you look closely enough...


Bird dropping damage.... on a BRAND NEW CAR???

Now the paint is ready for alien Coating...

The owner of this brand new VW Golf GTi wanted to protect the paintwork with alien Coating powered by Optimum Opti-Coat.

Although the choice of coating is important and Optimum Opti-Coat has plenty of evidence supporting its effectiveness throughout the internet, it is just one aspect of coating a car.

The surface preparation is critical as the coating will seal in any paint defects that are uncorrected and hence the choice of detailiers to carry out the coating should not only be limited by which coatings they are using but the quality of their work before the coating is applied.


The tools for today... 3 Makitas with Optimum Double-Sided Red Foam and 2 Optimum MF compounding pads + 1 Flex 3401VRG with Optimum MF polishing pad.


VW seem to have quite a number of paint issues even when brand new. This is just a small sample of the many deep Random Isolated Deep Scratches or RIDS found throughout the body of this 'brand new' ride.


Corrected with our arsenal of specialized detailing tools. :-)

The B-Pillars are typically made out of plastic and are very soft and very prone to scratching... as you can see from this picture.

All done and ready for coating....


Another important aspect of coating is to ensure that the corrected paint surface is as clean as possible and that all traces of compound and polish are removed to ensure maximum adherence of the coating. The entire surface is wiped down with IPA before coating.

The beautiful telephone dial wheels were also alien Coated to protect the wheels and make them easier to clean.

The Carbon Fiber wing of the Golf was also corrected and alien coated.


Nice CF weave under the gloss...


You can still get a nice wet glossy finish on white...
